Drew Himmelstein graduated from Amherst College in 2003 with a degree in English. After three years living in Washington, DC, working as a community organizer and non-profit event planner, she moved to San Francisco to pursue a graduate degree in journalism at UC Berkeley. She completed her master’s degree in 2008 with a specialization in multimedia reporting, and subsequently worked as a NEWS21 fellow, reporting on election year social issues for an innovative online reporting venture funded by the Carnegie and Knight foundations. Her work has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Dwell magazine and NPR, and her half-hour radio documentary about the entertainment industry was broadcast nationally on Making Contact. She recently launched and produced a serial podcast for the Bold Italic, and now works as an editor for Patch.com.
