Sabbath Keepers

Sabbath Keepers was my multimedia master’s project at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.  I presented three comparative profiles of how adherents to different religions observe the Sabbath, and looked at how historical tension over Sabbath observance has mirrored struggles over the work ethic and religion in American life.

In an increasingly fast-paced world, people struggle to create balanced lives.  Today’s Sabbath keepers come from many backgrounds and religious persuasions, but all speak of the importance of taking time away in a multi-tasking world.  Hear their stories and learn about how the Sabbath has helped define religious experience.
